How much does it cost to start a hair-butter business in South Africa?

Your first sellable batch of hair butter costs about R100 to R150 in South Africa if you use the pots, spoons and mixer already in your kitchen and buy small quantities from a pharmacy, spaza or wholesaler. That batch makes roughly ten to fifteen small tubs that sell for R30 to R60 each, which pays for the next batch and the first things you need to buy. The bigger costs, a proper scale, printed labels and bulk packaging, come later and are paid for by sales, not by savings.
